While Bollywood is suffering from boycott calls, Pathaan is here to save it and says "Pathaan to saath main Pataake bhi lekar ayegaa". This dialogue by SRK becomes real for Bollywood.
First half: While the film starts to set it's world, it takes time and a little of your patience too. But Shah Rukh Khan's entry action sequence as Pathaan just provides an intense adrenaline rush as it is glorified to a great extent and it is skillfully executed. The film meanwhile also gives a good amount of time to the villain's (John Abraham) story too which makes it even more engaging. But on the negative side is the predictable flashback that follows these events. There are illogical action set-pieces too, yet they are entertaining. The humor misses something it needed therefore did not connect much.
Second half: This is where the real game begins, and the plot starts to unfold, but not too much. The cameo just after the interval is when the real goosebumps arise, and it is very well choreographed. The plot twists provided are good and the action set-pieces look more satisfying. Every character is given importance in the plot. The climax is emotional and patriotic as expected, and there is a mid-credit scene in the film, so don't miss it.
SRK's performance as spy lits up the whole environment of the film and the fights between SRK and John Abraham are well choreographed. The spy universe needed a good villain backdrop which is provided in Pathaan. The biggest underwhelming aspect in the Film was the VFX and CGI works in the action scenes. Sometimes it gets too choppy, sometimes way too panned camera angles and sometimes laggy too as there are many action scenes.
Music in the film were good, but not as great as we know Vishal-Shekhar music capabilities. But to balance this the BGM in the film fits to the tone perfectly.
Even though the film has it's own flaws, but the promised entertainment is surely provided in excess and the only expectation from Pathaan was also the same. Finally, Bollywood came up with a much-needed entertaining to the core film whose absence had made the industry dull.
If you crave for great entertainment, lot of actions, a decent plot and a legendary comeback for this Republic weekend, Pathaan must be surely your choice.
